Digital Multimedia is the digitised information that is transferred over the internet or in computer networks.

What are digital media products?
Examples of digital media products would be Instagram, Youtube, and Smart TV’s.
Within these products, you can find video content, sound files and image use. When these things are used together the user can experience a variety of mediums all working in unison.
When you go onto Youtube (be it on your Laptop, phone or tablet) you will see thumbnail images, used with video content, alongside sound files.
Instagram is a platform that allows people to share images and video. It is used professionally and recreationally. You can have videos with or without sound content.
Smart TV’s use a variety of media. Text, graphics, video, music. They are a part of what is known as ‘the internet of things’, which essentially means the interlinking of multiple systems within a certain space or network – such as at home. The TV can link with your phone and speakers and be set to automatically receive and upload documents, such as photos and videos.
Multimedia – Images / Sound / Text
The use of Images on their own is useful.
The use of Sound on its own is useful.
The use of Text on its own is useful.
… The use of all three together = Far more powerful.
Almost all digital platforms, whether its a website, an e-book or an interactive portfolio, use image alongside sound alongside text. It allows the user to ‘experience’ the data in a deeper way, rather than just seeing a static photo.
